17 year old drank his own blood and got poisoned

A 17 year old boy from Moscow, Russia was hospitalized after drinking his own blood to raise iron levels, following advice he saw in a social media clip. The teenager reportedly used a syringe to draw blood and drank it, believing it would boost haemoglobin and make him stronger, according to the SHOT Telegram channel. His condition worsened quickly. He began vomiting blood, developed a fever, and felt severely unwell, prompting his family to call emergency services. Doctors diagnosed acute poisoning and stabilized him. Physician Andrei Kondrakhin told Moscow24, “It is not absorbed because it contains a large amount of iron, which causes its irritating effect.” Kondrakhin explained the stomach cannot process blood. “The body does not know how to digest blood. Therefore, it does not obtain the iron contained in haemoglobin this way,” he said. The case has alarmed Russian health experts, who warn that viral medical advice can turn the human body into its own worst experiment.
