Porcupine Hides 538 Miles in Plane Wreck, Helicopter, Boat, Flatbed

Porcupine stowed away in a wrecked plane for a 538-mile British Columbia trek, enduring helicopter, boat, and flatbed legs. Rescuers from Interior Wildlife discovered the animal hiding under the pilot’s seat, calling the event “unique” compared to usual marmot calls.
Rescue workers sedated the porcupine via a tiny plane window, pulling it out by the front arms—no quills shed. The group, more used to marmots, dubbed the incident “porcupine on a plane” and are consulting authorities on the best wild release spot.
The porcupine was found only after the wreck was unloaded in Kelowna—538 miles from where it started.
