In Surrey, British Columbia, 24 female water buffaloes from Tesfa Farms orchestrated a grand escape, swimming through a culvert under 176 Street and leisurely strolling up to 168th Avenue. Witnesses followed the gentle giants until they were spooked and ran up the road.

The heifers were eventually rounded up by farm employees, with assistance from local residents and RCMP officers. Tesfa Farms noted that urban farming challenges, such as trespassing and unleashed dogs, can weaken fences, leading to such unexpected adventures.

Despite their size, the water buffaloes are described as gentle and curious, making their urban escapade a memorable event for Surrey residents.
