4 a.m. Miami burglary ends with urination and indecent assault

A Miami man was arrested after police say he broke into an apartment and assaulted a sleeping resident in the Flagami neighborhood just before 4 a.m. Sunday. Officers were called to an apartment on the 4200 block of Northwest 11th Street. The victim said he woke to a man on top of him, “touching my penis over my clothing.” According to the arrest report, the suspect then exposed himself and “urinate on me before leaving the room.” As he grabbed his clothes, the man allegedly told the victim, “I know you.” Police identified the suspect as Maykel Rodriguez Jr., a 34 year old who lives a few blocks away. Officers found him at Northwest 43rd Avenue and 11th Street, where the victim positively identified him. Rodriguez refused to answer questions and was arrested on charges including burglary of an occupied dwelling, battery and indecent exposure. Prosecutor Nessa Eth said, “The facts are pretty egregious.” Judge Mindy Glazer found probable cause for burglary with assault or battery and ordered Rodriguez held without bond. If convicted, she said, he could face a life sentence.
