Emus Sami and Ali from Rush City, Minnesota, outran a storm and local logic, vanishing six miles before surfacing in Chisago County—igniting surges in “do emus escape often?” and “LiMu Emu real-life sightings.” Owner Tom Halek reported, “I figured the way they can move, who knows where they'd end up.”

After being mistaken for both a famous insurance mascot and Kevin from the movie Up, the renegade emus were apprehended by a rival emu owner, only to be disowned upon inspection. Trending “How fast can emus run?” meets, “Does Minnesota have wild emus?” as deputies quip, “It also isn't Kevin from the popular movie, Up, we verified that by calling Doug.”

A local sheriff’s tip line fielded two mascot inquiries, one movie reference, and a full-grown emu handoff—before anyone noticed the birds weren’t insured, just spectacularly lost.
