A one year old dachshund in Oklahoma refused to acknowledge his owner until she mentioned a deer TV show. The moment, shared on December 28, quickly spread online.
Jennifer West noticed her dog Bagels lying slumped on the floor, facing away and ignoring her voice. The usually alert dachshund would not respond to any normal prompts.
West told Newsweek it was time to get in the school pickup line. She said, "I started saying all his favourite words and then I said, ‘Do you want to watch a show about deer?’"
That question worked instantly. The video shows Bagels perking up, confirming he wanted to keep watching television instead of leaving, and the clip drew more than 75,000 likes.
One viewer joked, "God forbid a guy has interests." West said Bagels eventually got his wish, watching 15 minutes of the deer documentary before heading out.
Experts say dogs often fixate on fast movement and animal sounds on TV, which can trigger prey instincts. In Bagels’ case, the silent treatment ended with deer.
