78 year old woke up inside body bag before embalming

Walter Williams, a 78 year old farmer, woke up inside a body bag at Porter and Sons Funeral Home in Mississippi as staff prepared to embalm him. Williams had been admitted to hospice on February 27, 2014, with congestive heart failure. Staff checked his pulse around 9 pm and declared him dead before transport to the funeral home. As embalmers began preparations, they saw movement. Holmes County Coroner Dexter Howard told CNN, "We noticed his legs beginning to move, like kicking. He also began to do a little breathing." Emergency services rushed Williams to hospital. Doctors later suggested medications or a faulty pacemaker may have caused his vital signs to become undetectable. His nephew Eddie Hester said, "I stood there and watched them put him in a body bag and zip it up." His daughter Martha Lewis recalled him asking, "What did you all stop talking for?" Williams returned home but died of natural causes on March 14, 2014. Hester called it a "two week miracle," a phrase that stuck for a reason.
