A Salvation Army bell ringer was arrested after allegedly trying to impale a grocery store manager outside a Publix in Martin County, Florida. Sheriff deputies say 63 year old Steven Pavlik was working a donation post at the Publix on Kanner Highway when things went sideways on Tuesday. According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Pavlik became intoxicated while on duty and aggressively confronted shoppers, creating what deputies called a major disturbance. When the store manager approached to intervene, Pavlik allegedly turned violent and tried to stab him with the metal donation kettle tripod. No one was injured. In a statement, deputies said Pavlik had taken on part time charity work, but that “drunk ringing, belligerent tidings and assault took him from bell duty to booking blotter.” Pavlik fled the scene but was later arrested at his home and booked into the Martin County Jail on charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
